ah the seventies ... when the blissful ignorance of my 16-year-old self was enhanced by the powerful delusion that I was actually wise, that I knew what I was doing, that I understood life. And the music -- and the radio -- was so fucking good. The vinyl and other delights of life were cheap and plentiful.
BTW -- where were you when Elvis died? Thirty years ago today. I was only a few days away from my 17th birthday. I was with Laurie (who I was at my house just today, life, huh?) -- at the Concert Company in New Orleans. I think we had been running around in "Veemer," the no-AC-hand-me-down-Toyota, putting up posters for Laurie's super-cool concert-promoter sister Cyndi. The announcemnet came on the radio (WRNO? WTIX?) and the DJ said, "you'll always remember where you were when you heard that Elivs died."
Somehow I have.
But what was playing when they broke in with the news? Maybe Frampton ... Oh, won't you ... show me the way?
My post-viewing review of Idlewild: unbelievably bad. We should have left the music on and skipped the movie. I give it 1 and a half gliomas.
1 and a half gliomas? That's sick.
You're right baby. That's half a tumor too much for that trash.
