In memory of Barbara Isaak

Here's a demo of the power of House, my favorite TV show: Tonite's episode ended with a credit that read: "In Memory of Barbara Isaak." Within half an hour after the show ended, Barbara Isaak was the number 1 search term on Google. One blogger wrote something along the lines of "who is Barbara Isaak? Why is everybody searching for her?"

Like I said, such is the power of House.

It took a while to track down the answer, but I found one that looks right on the House forums: "She was the supervising sound editor i believe, and she died in July of cancer." The link to her bio is here.

PostScript: Nine minutes later and we are the #6 result for Barbara Isaak, and Google has sent five visitors to M&M for Barbara Isaak info. The Internets are cool.

You're welcome for the info, Web visitors. Drop us a comment and tell us who you are and why you love House, just like me.

Okay. I'm just a 51 year old Mom, watching House on TIVO. Of course I had to google Barbara Isaaks...

Your blog came up - looked like you might be the only one who knew.

Yes, we love House! Thank you for the info!

Thanks for the information. You're the only one who appears to know the actual truth. Great job.

Thanks for the info, I had recorded it, and just finished watching that episode, so of course, I also had to know who Barbara Isaak was. Thank goodness for the internet.

I just wanted to say I love watching House, because he is the doctor I wish all the other physicians would be like. I work with the real things, and none have that spark of candor that I love the most from House. Whenever we have a case that no one can solve at the hospital, you can usually here me utter, "Where's House when you need him!"

Plus I am a huge Hugh Laurie fan, just love watching old Black Adder episodes with him in it as the stupid Prince.

Hi Anonymous,

thanks for the great comment! I know what you mean about doctors -- the Mark end of this blog is being treated for brain cancer, and it seems really impossible to get a straight answer most of the time.

As for Black Adder -- I can't believe Hugh Laurie is in that show! I watched it for years but it's been a long time since I watched it. Now I have to go back and watch them again. Thanks for the tip!

The Power of House + the power of M&M = beautiful interwebs.

I totally and completely love this blog. What a sweet little Mandlebrot-set-colored corner of the interwebs it is.

PS -- OMG re not knowing HL was in black adder -- Have you ever seen "A bit of Fry and Laurie?" -- hilarious

hi Kay, I went to check out your recommendation, but instead got "Ziya goes to next fest". It was fascinating, so I stayed and watched it, but I would still like to see "A bit of Frye and Lauri."

But sorry, no clip to be found. Of course there's always netflx.

hey Kay, thanks for the suggestion, actually I went to U tube and watched three videos of Fry and Lauri, they are hysterical. Actually I saw Fry on TV while on my trip to the UK. I didn't know he and Lauri used to have a show.

good one freda -- must have screwed up my search somehow ... going back over to u-tube now

I love House too! And I am guilty of DVRing House and watching it over and over. Normally I fast forward everything but this time I stalled and saw the In Memory of Barbara Isaak. You were #2 on Google at that moment! haha. Thanks for the Info! You saved me a bunch of wondering.

Barbara Issak was, in fact, the supervising sound editor for House since the first season.
She was my supervisor...
She had an amazing spirit and a real lust for life. She will be dearly missed.
Those that loved her got quite a chuckle that her name was so popular a search on Google.

I have been watching House since day one, and love the show. But it also holds a more personal meaning to me.

Thanks for posting information on Barbara Issak. She was my Aunt.
