Party at the Dean's house

We're gonna get wasted!

Just kidding.

Anyways, Mark, you're missing a great time. Here we all are enjoying an academic garden party. You know you're sorry you didn't come.

Earlier I dined on a local delicacy, pulled pork with some kind of barbeque sauce that's supposed to be really special and famous, but it just tasted like regular old barbeque sauce. Oh well. Here's the judges, pausing for a photo opportunity.

Pork and barbeque is really big around here. Here's the logo of the catering company that catered the dean's garden party.

And here's the rockin blue grass band that was playing.

Party on, Garth.

The last SND I went to ... back in the day when the name of the organization was the Society for Newspaper Design ... there was no internets. I was a speaker on the Graphics reporting track in Boston in 1991. Wendy Govier and I built a full-on jeopardy game of graphics reporting knowledge. We built it in Hypercard. and projected it on a giant screen in the meeting room. It was a hit.
Between workshops we watched the Clarence Thomas hearings on TV and I had the Best Lobster Salad I Ever Had at the Ritz.

In 1990, I was a speaker at the San Francisco SND -- Val and I got a cool suite at The Griffin and had a Twin Peaks party for about 20 people -- who were skipping out on some organization-sanctioned event -- complete with catered coffee and pie.

That was three careers ago. When the world was a more innocent place ....
